As part of the ongoing efforts of the Palestine Public Finance Institute (PFI) to promote the new Value Added Tax (VAT) Law and strengthen the capacities of revenue staff in implementing it following its recent entry into force, the PFI conducted two training workshops on “Fundamentals of Value Added Tax” for revenue employees at the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
These workshops aim to enhance participants’ technical capacities by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the general concept of VAT and its scope of application. They also enable participants to distinguish between different types of transactions, their respective provisions, and taxpayer classifications. In addition, the workshops seek to develop skills in tax calculation for both businesses and financial institutions, while familiarizing participants with the role of this law in supporting the national economy and strengthening their ability to apply its provisions in line with best practices. These workshop contribute to ensuring effective implementation and administration mechanisms of the new law, thereby promoting accurate compliance and supporting financial and economic stability.
These workshops were implemented under the ISNAD Project (Technical Assistance to Support the Ministry of Finance and Planning in Public Financial Management), funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
